Oil Seal Introduction
Oil seal is one kind of machine element, called Rotating Shaft Seal. Rotating Shaft Seals are used between rotating and nonrotating machine components, to prevent oil leakage. With the development of mechanics, in order to prevent water or chemical liquid and dust and soil, except for oil, to enter inner, oil seal is used in these situations. The equipments with sealing function, besides oil seal, include orings,
liptype ring, and machine seal. But the most popular one is Rotating Seal for the Rotating shaft sealing.
Performance of Seals.
1. Primary Sealing Lip
The sealing lips are made of flexible elastomer, the sealing function is still effective
when seals are in the situation of machine vibration and pressure change, meanwhile
keeping the stability between lip and shaft surface. Besides, springs enhance and keep
the axile tension of lips.
2. Secondary Sealing Lip
Secondary sealing lips prevent dust incursion, no spring.
3. Outside Surface
Oil seal is fixed in the hole, Outside surface prevents liquid incursion from the surface
between oil seal outside surface and hole. Besides, the metal case keeps pressure
between oil seal and hole.
