It is unaffected by most corrosive liquids, vapors and gases, and conforms to both FDA and AMS specifications. PTFE will insulate to 500 volts per mil and does not melt. PTFE's mechanical properties are low compared to other plastics
but its mechanical properties can be enhanced by adding fillers such as glass fibers, carbon, graphite, molybdenum disulphide, and bronze.
