The oil seal is also called a rotating shaft seal. They are often referred to as grease, fluid seal or dirt seal. Oil seal is an indispensable part of any rotating and moving component assembly. They close the space between the fixed and moving parts of the mechanical equipment. In most applications, especially in engines, transmissions, gearboxes or axles, the seals are either partially or temporarily immersed, or only exposed to splashing lubricant. They are an important part of almost all machines and vehicles in operation. Oil seals usually consist of three basic components: sealing element (rubber part), metal casing and spring.
