How is pressure calculated in a hydraulic cylinder?

Since pressure is, by definition, force divided by area, if the force in Newtons divided by the area of the piston in the hydraulic cylinder being considered, in square millimetres. this will be the pressure required (in Megapascals) to resist that force. It would then be normal for a pressure in excess of that determined to cover contingencies or other known requirements.
