What is Brass Stop Valve?
A brass stop valve is a flow-control valve made of copper alloy, used primarily in plumbing and HVAC systems for water and corrosive fluids due to its excellent corrosion resistance and reliable shut-off.
Working Principle
A brass stop valve works by using a handle to lower or raise a disc (or plug) perpendicularly against a circular seat inside the valve body. When the disc is fully lowered, it seals the flow path completely, stopping the fluid. When raised, it allows fluid to pass, with the extent of lifting controlling the flow rate. Its design forces the fluid to change direction multiple times, creating high pressure drop but precise control.
Features:
1. High strength, excellent pressure and high-temperature resistance.
2. Extremely durable with a long service life.
3. UV-resistant, suitable for surface mounting.
4. Detachable, facilitating future maintenance and replacement.
The key advantages of a brass stop valve compared to a PPR stop valve:
- Higher Strength & Durability: More robust, resistant to pressure, impact, and mechanical stress.
- Superior Temperature Resistance: Can handle higher temperatures, making it ideal for hot water lines and near boilers.
- Removable & Reusable: Threaded connections allow for easy disassembly, maintenance, or system modifications.
- Material Compatibility: Serves as a reliable transition fitting between different pipe materials (e.g., connecting PPR to metal piping).
Applications
- Exposed Plumbing Lines
Where pipes are visible (e.g., basements, utility rooms), thanks to UV resistance and a neat appearance. - High-Temperature & Critical Points
On boiler outlets, hot water heater connections, or steam lines, due to superior heat and pressure tolerance. - Frequent Operation & Maintenance Locations
Where valves are often turned on/off or need servicing, as they are durable and easily removable. - Transition Connections
As an adapter between different piping materials (e.g., connecting PPR to a metal system or appliance). - Retrofit & Repair Projects
Ideal for repairs or modifications in existing systems where threaded connections are required.
