GB/T 17396 Hot-Rolled Seamless Steel Tubes for Hydraulic Pillar Service
GB/T 17396-2022 is the current Chinese national standard for seamless hot-rolled steel tubes used in hydraulic pillar service, issued for tubes used in cylinders and pillars of coal-mine hydraulic support equipment. The standard replaced GB/T 17396-2009 and has been implemented since May 1, 2023.

Main Characteristics
- Controlled dimensional accuracy for hydraulic barrels: OD tolerance is ±0.75%D, while wall-thickness tolerance can be specified as common grade or higher grade depending on wall thickness.
- Defined straightness for machining stability: straightness is limited to 1.3 mm/m, 1.5 mm/m or 2.0 mm/m depending on wall thickness, with full-length bend limited to 0.10% of tube length.
- Strength range suitable for hydraulic pillar loading: listed grades cover tensile strength from 510 MPa for Grade 35 up to 1,080 MPa for 30CrMnSi.
- Impact-tested alloy options: 27SiMn, 30CrMnSi, 30CrMo and 30MnNbRE have specified Charpy V-notch absorbed energy requirements from 39 J to 71 J, depending on grade.
- Non-destructive inspection can be specified: ultrasonic testing level U3, eddy-current testing level E3H or E3, and magnetic-flux leakage testing level F3 are referenced for tube inspection.
