Fiber Interface Connector Type
Optical fiber connectors, that is, optical fiber connectors that connect to optical modules, also have many different types and cannot be used interchangeably with each other. People who are not in constant contact with the fiber may mistakenly think that the fiber connectors of the GBIC and SFP modules are the same, but they are not. The SFP module is connected to the LC fiber connector, while the GBIC is connected to the SC fiber connector. The following describes several commonly used fiber connectors in network engineering in detail:
1 FC type optical fiber connector: The external reinforcing method uses a metal sleeve, and the fastening method is a turnbuckle. Generally used on the ODF side (the most used on the distribution frame)
2 SC-type optical fiber connector: The connector that connects the GBIC optical module. Its shell is rectangular. The fastening method is a plug-and-pin-pin type without rotation. (the most used on the router switch)
3 ST type optical fiber connector: It is often used in optical fiber distribution frames. The housing is round and the fastening method is turnbuckle. (For 10Base-F connections, connectors are usually ST type. Commonly used for fiber distribution frames)
4 LC type fiber optic connector: The connector that connects the SFP module. It is made using the easy-to-use modular jack (RJ) latch mechanism. (used by routers)
5 MT-RJ: Transceiver integrated square fiber connector, one dual fiber transceiver
