Technical Specifications
Under Japanese steel specification JIS G3114, there are hot rolled atmospheric corrosion resisting steel plates SMA400AW, SMA400BW, SMA400CW and other weathering steel grades with different mechanical strength and chemical compositions. The letter symbol W denotes that the plates are usually used in the delivered condition or chemically treated against rusting.
Steel class AW, BW, CW are named according to different impacting test temperature and energy requirements. For atmospheric corrosion resistance steel plate SMA400AW, these plates do not require low temperature impacting test. For weathering steel plate SMA400BW, low temperature test should be under zero centigrade with minimum 27 J, and for weathering resistance steel plate SMA400CW, impacting test shall be conducted under zero centigrade with minimum energy value at 47 J. The impacting test is applied only to steel plates exceeding 12 mm in thickness.
