Stainless Steel 321 Pipes (UNS S32100) is the basic austenitic 18/8 steel (Stainless Steel 304) stabilised by Titanium (321) or Niobium (347) additions. Stainless Steel 321 Tubes is a stabilized stainless steel which offers as its main advantage an excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion following exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range from 800 to 1500 Degree F (427 to 816 Degree C).

The addition of titanium in 321 stainless steel give some desired characteristics:

1.Prevents harmful carbide precipitation in the heat affected zone (HAZ) of the weld area

2.Imparts partial immunity to inter granular corrosion

3.Reduced embrittlement in the HAZ of the weld area

SS 321H Pipes (UNS S32109) is a modification of SS 321 Tubes with a higher carbon content, to provide improved high temperature strength. SS 321H Tubes is the higher carbon (0.04 - 0.10) version of the alloy.
