Nickel Alloy Classifications
Nickel Base Wear-Resistant Alloy
Primary alloy elements include chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten, with minor additions of niobium, tantalum, and indium. These alloys offer excellent wear resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and superior welding performance. Suitable for wear-resistant components and as cladding materials applied via surfacing and spraying processes.
Nickel Base Precision Alloy
Includes nickel-based soft magnetic alloys, precision resistance alloys, and electrothermal alloys. Permalloy (containing approximately 80% nickel) provides high magnetic permeability and low coercivity, making it essential for electronic core components. Precision resistance alloys feature chromium, aluminum, and copper for high resistivity with low temperature coefficients. Nickel-based electrothermal alloys maintain oxidation and corrosion resistance at 1000-1100°C.
Nickel Base Shape Memory Alloy
Nickel-titanium alloys containing 50% nickel offer excellent shape memory effects with recovery temperatures adjustable between 30-70°C. Applications include aerospace structural components, fasteners, and biomedical devices such as artificial heart motors.
