Corrosion resistance

General corrosion

The higher chromium and molybdenum content of 2507 gives it a strong resistance to organic corrosion to organic acids such as formic acid, acetic acid, etc. 2507 alloys for inorganic acids, especially those containing chlorides
Inorganic acids also have strong corrosion resistance.

Compared with 904L, 2507 has stronger corrosion resistance to diluted sulfuric acid mixed with chloride ions. 904L is an austenitic alloy designed to resist pure sulfuric acid corrosion.

316L grade can not be used in hydrochloric acid environment, it may be subject to local corrosion or overall corrosion. 2507 can be used in diluted hydrochloric acid environment, with strong resistance to plaque damage and crevice corrosion resistance.

2. Intergranular corrosion

The lower carbon content of n 2507 greatly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation in the intergranular heat treatment. Therefore, this alloy has a strong resistance to carbide-related intergranular corrosion.

3. Stress corrosion cracking

The duplex structure of 2507 gives it a strong resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Due to its high alloy content, 2507 has better corrosion resistance and strength than 2205.

Cracks are almost inevitable in terms of construction, etc., which makes stainless steel more susceptible to corrosion in chloride environments. 2507 has a strong resistance to crack corrosion. 2507 is included.
The isocratic curve in sulfuric acid with 2000 ppm chloride ion is 0.1 mm/year; the isocratic curve in hydrochloric acid is 0.1 mm/year.
