The Planetary Strander is the most classic machine in the history of the cable and steel rope field. This is a very well accepted machine for the quality of the cables and ropes that it can produce. It can work with the technology of “Zero back twist” or “Full back twist”. The bobbin cradles are bearing mounted in cage sections allowing them to float relative to the rotation of the cage applying a full back twist in order to neutralize the torsion applied during lay-up. The Cradles can also be locked to operate in a zero Back twist mode for no torsion applied to the wires during cable lay-up. The low residual torsion enables precise, stable formation suitable for the quality levels associated with concentric lay bare or insulated products, as well as screening and armoring applications. Mimtek produces this machine for a range of bobbin diameters from 400mm up to 800mm. This machine is suitable for: - laying-up of insulated conductors - Stranding of steel wires and manufacture of wire ropes - Laying-up of umbilical cords - OPGW and fiber-optics laying-up - Armoring - Stranding of composite cable
