The thermal protection switch is typically located on A/C compressor housings to prevent compressor damage from overheating caused by internal friction. The switch senses compressor case temperature and interrupts the electrical circuit when temperature reaches predetermined levels.
Thermal protection switches guard against overload conditions. In these overload relays (also called "solder pot relays"), motor current passes through a small heater winding.
All types of motors, fluorescent lamp commutators, transformers, laminators, lighting equipment, cover sealing machines, and various household appliances.
