The wedge is the core component of the prestressed anchoring system, typically consisting of 2-3 wedge-shaped steel blocks with outer cones and inner teeth. It is used in conjunction with the anchor plate, and through the wedge self-locking principle, firmly locks the tensioned steel strand to prevent it from retracting.

Features

Outer conical surface: matches the conical hole of the anchor plate (typically with a 1:12 taper) to create a wedging effect

Inner tooth surface: densely covered with helical teeth, increasing friction with the steel strand to prevent slippage

Split design: commonly seen in two-piece type (for single steel bar) or three-piece type (for steel strand)
