Low Energy VPSA Vacuum Adsorption Oxygen Production
The main components of air are nitrogen and oxygen. At normal temperature, zeolite molecular sieves (ZMS) exhibit different adsorption capacities for nitrogen and oxygen (oxygen passes through while nitrogen is adsorbed), enabling oxygen separation from air through proper design. Nitrogen adsorption capability is higher than oxygen adsorption capacity. When pressurized air passes through the adsorption tank filled with ZMS, nitrogen and only a small amount of oxygen are adsorbed, while most oxygen flows out of the tank, producing oxygen by separating nitrogen and oxygen.
When ZMS becomes saturated with nitrogen, the air supply stops and tank pressure is reduced, allowing nitrogen to be released from the ZMS, thus regenerating the molecular sieves for reuse. Two or more absorption tanks operating alternately enable continuous oxygen gas production.
This process requires a dedicated PD blower to compress the air stream for continuous operation and a dedicated vacuum blower for absorber regeneration. The VPSA process is more energy efficient due to its inherent continuous operation, making this technology ideal for large-scale, high-volume, low-pressure oxygen requirements.

VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) oxygen production equipment is a complete gas separation system that uses air as raw material to separate and produce oxygen through vacuum pressure swing adsorption technology. As an upgraded branch of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen production technology, this method originated from the air separation industry in the early 20th century. Core Working Principle
  • Raw material pretreatment: External air is first filtered to remove dust and impurities, then pressurized to the required process pressure by a Roots blower, cooled by a cooler, and sent to the adsorption tower.
  • Adsorption separation: The adsorption tower employs a double-layer bed structure design, with the lower layer filled with activated alumina to remove moisture and carbon dioxide from the raw air, protecting the upper molecular sieve. The upper layer contains high-performance lithium-based molecular sieves that selectively adsorb nitrogen and residual impurities. Oxygen is enriched at the top of the tower and transported to the oxygen balance tank for storage and output.
  • Vacuum desorption regeneration: When molecular sieves in the adsorption tower reach saturation, the system switches working states through a switching valve, and the saturated adsorption tower is vacuumed by a vacuum pump. Impurities such as nitrogen, water, and carbon dioxide are extracted and discharged into the atmosphere, restoring the molecular sieve's adsorption capacity.
  • Circulating continuous oxygen production: The equipment features two or more adsorption towers with valve switching automatically controlled by the control system to alternately complete the complete cycle of "adsorption-desorption-stamping," achieving all-weather continuous and stable oxygen supply.
