What is pure epoxy powder coating?
Pure epoxy powder coating is a type of thermosetting polymer coating made "exclusively from epoxy resins" (without blending with other resins like polyester or polyurethane). It is applied as a dry powder and cured under heat to form a durable, protective finish.
Characteristics
- Base Resin: 100% epoxy resin (no hybrids).
- Curing Agent: Typically a heat-activated catalyst (e.g., dicyandiamide).
- Additives: Pigments, flow modifiers, and fillers for color and texture.
Applications of pure epoxy powder coating?
- Electrostatic spraying charges the powder, which adheres to grounded metal surfaces.
- Heated to 160–200°C (320–392°F) to melt, flow, and chemically crosslink into a hard film.
