This external liquid level sensor operates on sonar ranging principles, utilizing an integrated temperature sensor to process sonar signals. The sensor is mounted on the exterior wall of the tank. Using patented algorithms, it calculates liquid height and transmits data to remote control systems (e.g., DCS) via 4-20mA, HART, RS-485, or Modbus protocols.
The system measures the time taken for signals to transmit and reflect from the liquid surface. These signals are processed through patented algorithms to determine liquid height using the formula:
H=αV(t-t1)/2
Where:
H = height of the liquid
V = velocity of sound in the liquid
t = time between transmitted and received signal
tg = propagation time in the tank wall
