Introduction of Radial Shock Absorber
For the drill stem testing operation, there are two types of shock absorber: Vertical shock absorber and radial shock absorber, which is to protect pressure-measuring equipment during testing operation.
Normally the radial shock absorber use with the vertical shock absorber together and it is always located below the vertical shock absorber. The radial shock absorber mainly composed by radial shock absorption component and axial slide component.

Operation
In radial shock absorbers, spring-loaded drag blocks absorb radial shock waves transmitted through the TCP perforating. The vertical shock from axial slide can be transferred to the vertical shock absorber, a part of shock will be absorbed by axial slide movement and the shear pin effect, so that the condition of radial shock absorber component and inner-wall tubing are relative stable.
