The Hydrospring Tester is a reliable, field-proven downhole master valve designed for open hole drill stem testing operations. This combination tester valve and bypass system operates through vertical movement of the drillpipe, where pipe weight effectively opens the tester and sets the packer, while raising the drill pipe closes the tester.

When positioning the tester valve for opening, it clearly records initial hydrostatic mud weight on the pressure chart during time intervals. The hydrospring tester features an indexing J-slot without built-in bypass. For bypass requirements, the LOC bypass can be utilized. Repeated opening and closing for closed-in and flow periods is achieved by reciprocating the pipe, with the indexing J-slot automatically indexing so that every alternative weight set down keeps the tester valve closed.
