Product Overview
The 3 7/8" Internal Pressure-Operated Circulating Valve is a specialized drill stem testing (DST) equipment designed for operation in slim hole, cased hole, and open hole environments. Constructed from AISI alloy steel, this valve ensures reliable performance under demanding downhole conditions.
Operation Principle
The IPO circulating valve operates using internal pressure ranging from 500 to 10,000 psi above hydrostatic pressure. The operating pressure is precisely controlled by shear pins that maintain the sliding valve in the closed position. To open the valve, tubing pressure is increased above annulus hydrostatic to reach the shear value of the pins.

Testing Procedures
Internal Pressure Sealing Test
Remove shear pins, locking ring, shear sleeve, and pin cover. Install the test sleeve adjacent to the shear mandrel at the bottom. Connect test subs to both ends of the tool for comprehensive pressure testing.
Function Test
Install four shear pins and attach test caps to both tool ends. Fill the tool with water and gradually increase pressure to shear the pins and fully open the circulating ports.

Safety Instructions
- Gradually increase pressure during testing - maintain at 20 MPa for one minute, then hold for one minute at each 10 MPa increment until reaching rated pressure
- Keep all personnel clear of plugs and joints that may release during testing
- Establish isolation barriers around test area - only authorized operators permitted
- Ensure complete isolation if personnel are present in test area to prevent equipment ejection
