MFE By-Pass Valve for Open Hole DST Well Testing
Product Overview
The MFE By-Pass Valve is a Multi-Flow Evaluator specifically designed for open hole drill stem testing operations. This critical component enables fluid bypass through the packer when navigating tight spots during insertion and extraction, and facilitates pressure equalization across the packer following test completion.
Structural Design
The MFE By-Pass Valve consists of three main components: Main By-Pass, Auxiliary By-Pass, and Metering Valve. Operation is controlled through up and down motion, with weight application and time delay mechanisms ensuring reliable performance.
When weight is applied, the main by-pass ports close quickly. After testing, a tension of 20,000 lbs above the free point for 1-2 minutes opens the valve. This time delay provides a safety factor to ensure the MFE is fully extended when transitioning between open and shut-in positions.
The auxiliary by-pass system ensures continuous fluid bypass capability during all downhole insertion operations, maintaining operational flexibility in challenging well conditions.
