The metering cartridge serves as the critical component in select tester valves used for downhole testing operations. It provides the surface area where operating pressure acts to open the valve mechanism.

The cartridge features two parallel flow paths, each permitting fluid movement in only one direction:

• First Path: Contains a check valve allowing unrestricted oil flow from lower to upper oil chamber
• Second Path: Includes pressure relief and time-delay valves, permitting controlled fluid movement from upper to lower chamber when pressure relief activates

Unlike LPR-N valve cartridges, this select tester valve cartridge offers adjustable metering rates by changing plug types installed in the cartridge housing OD. This enables operation across wider bottom hole conditions without tool disassembly. Standard operating pressure range is 2 ksi to 14 ksi hydrostatic pressure.
