Downhole Select Tester Valve Operation
The Select Tester Valve is a specialized Halliburton-type downhole tool designed for drill stem testing operations in oil and gas wells. Engineered for precision control and reliable performance under extreme conditions.
Operating Procedure
The tool is run into the well in the closed position. After packer setting, annulus pressure activates the valve through a controlled metering system:
  • Metering cartridge delays pressure transmission to power cartridge
  • Differential pressure across power cartridge opens ball valve
  • Timing depends on bottom hole conditions and applied pressure
  • Lock-out feature activated at 1300-1500 psi above normal operating pressure
  • Minimum 10-minute stabilization period required after pressure release
