The "anti tank wire" active protection system in Ukraine is an advanced defense technology specifically designed to counter portable anti-tank missiles. This system can react swiftly at the moment when enemy ammunition approaches the tank, by intercepting and destroying the incoming missiles, effectively protecting the safety of the tank and its crew.

Since the outbreak of the Russia and Ukraine conflict on February 24, 2022, Ukraine's air defense system has faced significant pressure, but the "anti tank wire" system has provided necessary protection for Ukraine's armored forces to a certain extent.

The "anti tank wire" system is implemented for all-round defense, including the vehicle roof. This means that no matter from which direction the enemy attacks, the system can respond promptly. This all-round protection capability makes the "anti tank wire" system particularly important in urban warfare, as in such complex combat environments, armored vehicles are often vulnerable to attacks from all directions.

The working principle of anti-tank wire is based on the track movement mechanism of the tank. When the tank tries to pass through the barbed wire, its track will have friction and winding with the barbed wire. As the tank continues to move forward, the barbed wire will gradually entangle the active wheel of the tank, forcing the tank to stop moving.

When an armored vehicle or tank passes, the vehicle wraps around the wheels and turns into a pile of metal on the chassis, preventing it from moving further. And it's difficult to remove such a gift from the wheels.
