Coalescing filters are constructed in three layers. The inner and outer layer act as built-in pre-filters, according to flow. These are also to drain and support layers. The middle layer is constructed of fiber/microglass and acts as the coalescing portion of the filter. The pre-filter layer removes dirt / particulate prior to coalescing in order to maximize filter life. Inner and outer layers can be made of various materials, usually rayon or fiberglass, impregnated with phenolic resin. Situated between these layers is the coalcesing layer; we use borosilicate microglass primarily. Efficiencies range from 93% to 99.999% at the 0.3 micron ranges. the pre-filter layer can be constructed using cellulose or microglass with micron retentions from 1 to 100 microns. End cap options include open ends with flat gaskets, open ends with o-ring seals, threaded base and also in many outside and inside diameter options.
