Operating Principles

Single Acting Actuator (Spring Return)

Counterclockwise (CCW) Operation:

Air to port A forces pistons outward, compressing springs
Pinion turns counterclockwise while air exhausts from port B
Loss of air pressure on port A releases spring energy, forcing pistons inward
Pinion turns clockwise while air exhausts from port A

Clockwise (CW) Operation:

Air to port B forces pistons outward, compressing springs
Pinion turns counterclockwise while air exhausts from port B

Double Acting Actuator

Counterclockwise (CCW) Operation:

Air to Port A forces pistons outward, turning pinion counterclockwise
Air exhausts from Port B during operation

Clockwise (CW) Operation:

Air to Port B forces pistons inward, turning pinion clockwise
Air exhausts from Port A during operation
