SGS Single Crystal BBO Pockels Cell with 2.5mm Aperture and 3.4kV Quarter-Wave Voltage for High Power Laser Applications
BBO (Beta Barium Borate) is an exceptional electro-optic material for high average power electro-optic Q-switch applications. This crystal offers superior laser power handling capabilities, excellent temperature stability, and minimal piezoelectric ringing compared to alternative materials.
Utilizing the electro-optic effect, BBO Pockels Cells deliver extremely fast switching times enhanced by low capacitance. The wide transparency range enables diverse applications across multiple laser systems.
The EOQ series employs transverse field devices with a double crystal design that reduces required operating voltages while enabling half-wave mode operation with rapid switching times. Despite BBO's low electro-optical coefficient requiring higher voltages, the optimized design maintains performance efficiency.
- High repetition rate operation
- Exceptional peak power damage resistance
- Minimal optical absorption
- Broad UV transmission capability
- Low acoustic noise generation
BBO crystals support numerous advanced applications including NOPA with femtosecond pulses, harmonics generation (up to fifth harmonic) of Nd:YAG and Nd:YLF lasers, frequency doubling/tripling of femtosecond Ti:Sapphire and dye lasers, OPO with Type I and Type II phase-matching, electro-optic modulation, and Pockels cell switching.
