The quartz glass envelope allows the transmission of IR energy and protects the filament from convective cooling and corrosion.
Halogen cycle ensures constant infrared efficiency all the lifetime preventing the quartz glass from blackening. The rated life of a short wave infrared heater is around 5000 hours.
