The zirconia shafts are made from high purity zirconia ceramics, which has excellent properties like high-temperature resistance (up to 1200℃), lower thermal conductivity (only 4 W/m.k at room temperature) than alumina ceramic parts, great flexural strength more than 2 times higher than alumina ceramic parts, as well as nearly zero dielectric constant. Also after being polished, it can achieve much better roughness by comparing alumina ceramic parts.

Yttria-stabilized zirconia provides such benefits as substantial increase shaft life by reducing abrasion, significant reduction in noise (in most cases), USDA approval for contact with food products. If price is not concerned, yttria-stabilized zirconia is a better material option than alumina ceramics.
