Overview


Polished sapphire tubes are precision-engineered components made from single-crystal aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃, 99.99%), renowned for their exceptional hardness, chemical inertness, and optical transparency. After high-temperature crystal growth (typically by the KY or EFG method), the tubes are meticulously ground and polished to achieve mirror-like inner and outer surfaces. Material Characteristics


Sapphire (Al₂O₃ single crystal) is second only to diamond in hardness (Mohs 9), offering outstanding wear resistance, high compressive strength, and thermal stability up to 2000°C in inert environments. Manufacturing Process

  1. Crystal Growth: High-purity alumina is melted and grown into a single-crystal sapphire boule using KY (Kyropoulos) or EFG (Edge-Defined Film-Fed Growth) techniques.

  3. Grinding & Lapping: Precise grinding ensures accurate wall thickness and uniform geometry.

  4. Polishing: Multi-stage chemical-mechanical polishing produces high optical clarity and low surface roughness (Ra < 10 nm).
