Tungsten Carbide Water Sand Blasting Gun with High-Pressure Water Jet and Dust Suppression for Industrial Cleaning
The water sand blasting gun is an industrial device that uses a high-pressure water jet mixed with abrasive media to impact, cut, and clean workpiece surfaces. Compared to traditional dry sandblasting, the wet-type water sand blasting gun effectively suppresses dust generation through a water curtain, while reducing thermal impact and excessive wear on the workpiece surface caused by abrasives.
The core components of this product are made of Tungsten Carbide, specifically the nozzle and mixing tube. With its extremely high hardness and excellent wear resistance, tungsten carbide is the preferred material for withstanding high-speed abrasive impact, significantly extending the service life of the gun under harsh working conditions.
- Extended Service Life: Tungsten carbide nozzles achieve a hardness of HRA 90+, offering far superior wear resistance compared to ordinary steel or ceramic nozzles, with a service life reaching hundreds of hours.
- Environmentally Friendly Dust Suppression: The water-abrasive mixing design effectively captures dust with water mist, meeting stringent environmental regulations.
- High-Precision Processing: The water jet acts as a smooth carrier, ensuring uniform spraying and the ability to reach complex dead corners, suitable for precise rust removal and surface preparation.
- Efficient Structure: Selected models utilize optimized fluid dynamics design, leveraging the Venturi effect to enhance jetting efficiency.
The water sand blasting gun typically operates on the after-mixing principle. High-pressure water passes through a water nozzle to form a high-speed jet, creating negative pressure in the mixing chamber. This negative pressure draws in the abrasive, accelerates it, and finally discharges it through the tungsten carbide nozzle.

The tungsten carbide nozzle (also called mixing tube or blast nozzle) is the heart of the entire blasting gun.
- Material Properties: Sintered from nano-tungsten carbide particles with a high-performance binder phase. Typical density: 14.5-15.6 g/cm³. Hardness (HV): 2800+.
- Structural Design: Features a "tapered inlet + straight bore outlet" Venturi configuration. This design maximizes abrasive acceleration while keeping the jet concentrated and non-divergent.
- Service Life Comparison:
- Ordinary iron nozzle: approx. 10-20 hours
- Alloy steel nozzle: approx. 100-200 hours
- Tungsten carbide nozzle: approx. 300-800 hours (varies depending on pressure and abrasive hardness)
- Shipbuilding & Repair: Hull plate rust removal, paint stripping, removal of marine growth.
- Petrochemical Industry: Internal and external pipe cleaning, tank corrosion protection treatment.
- Metalworking: Removal of welding scale, burrs, and casting sand.
- Stone/Glass Cutting: Shaped cutting or drilling using water-abrasive suspension jets.
- Municipal Sanitation: Road marking removal, concrete surface roughening on bridges.
- Alignment Calibration: When installing the nozzle, ensure the water orifice (jewel orifice) and the tungsten carbide mixing tube are perfectly centered on the same axis. Misalignment will cause the high-pressure water jet to erode one side of the mixing tube inner wall, leading to rapid nozzle failure (bell-mouthing).
- Periodic Rotation: To extend nozzle life, rotate the mixing tube by 90° or 120° after a certain period of use (e.g., every 100 hours). This allows even wear and increases total service life.
- Abrasive Filtration: Do not allow hard particles larger than the nozzle inner diameter to mix with the abrasive, as this may cause clogging or cracking of the nozzle.
| Operating Condition | Recommended Configuration |
|---|---|
| Large-area rapid rust removal | 12mm large-bore tungsten carbide nozzle with coarse abrasive; requires high-volume air supply. |
| Fine finishing / deburring | 6-8mm bore tungsten carbide nozzle with fine abrasive or glass beads; adjust pressure to moderate. |
| Highly abrasive / hard workpieces | Select high-quality nano tungsten carbide nozzle with high density and wear resistance. |
| Tight / confined space operation | Choose a compact gun body model with an optional extension rod. |
