- Application
1. Aerospace & Radar Systems
- Radar Systems: waveguide to coaxial adapter are used to connect the waveguide feed network at the antenna end with the coaxial Transmit/Receive (T/R) modules at the backend. They must guarantee signal phase consistency, especially in high-frequency bands (such as X-band and Ku-band);
- Electronic Jamming Systems: Used in signal transmit and receive chains, requiring extremely low Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) to ensure signal purity;
- Telemetry Systems: In high-vibration and high-impact flight environments, right-angle or ruggedized transitions provide reliable electrical connections.
2. Satellite Communications (Satcom)
- Ground Station Tx/Rx: Waveguide to coaxial adapter connects the waveguide output of parabolic antennas with the coaxial inputs of Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA) or Power Amplifiers (PA).
- Satellite Payload Testing: During ground verification of satellite payloads, high-performance transitions are used to simulate signal transmission in a space environment, ensuring test accuracy. Inter-Satellite Links: Within satellites, compact waveguide-to-coaxial structures are often used to save space and reduce weight.
3. Test & Measurement
- Antenna Testing: Connects waveguide antennas to Vector Network Analyzers (VNA). Especially in the millimeter-wave band (26.5GHz–110GHz), high-precision transitions (such as 2.4mm or 2.92mm connectors) are required. Anechoic Chamber Testing: Transitions are used to route signals from waveguide transmission lines into coaxial test equipment within EMC chambers. Automated Test Equipment (ATE): Right-angle adapters are often used in space-constrained test fixtures to optimize layout.
4. Wireless Communications (5G/6G & Microwave Relay)
- 5G/6G Millimeter-Wave R&D: Used in base station prototyping and testing to connect millimeter-wave chips/modules with test equipment. Point-to-Point Microwave Communication: Used for signal coupling and monitoring in long-haul microwave transmission links.
5. Industrial, Medical & Scientific Research
- Industrial Microwave: Power monitoring in microwave heating and drying equipment.
- Medical Microwave: Signal transmission in microwave physiotherapy and tumor hyperthermia equipment.
- Large-Scale Scientific Facilities: Used in particle accelerators and radio telescopes (e.g., FAST) for high-power, low-noise signal transmission.
