Backlash – the existing clearance gaps between gear teeth and worm is a very common and often a considerable and key factor in the designs of gear and drive systems. The gaps between them allow room for applying lubrication and can help accommodate the stresses of operation heat inside.
The gear and worm are contact in a condition of near perfect mesh. This will in turn allows for a highly efficient transfer of driving force, uniform load distribution and a very impressive level of positioning accuracy in drive
