Waterborne Acrylic Resin for Electrophoretic Substrates
WL-148 is a water-soluble acrylic resin, a polymer material soluble in water. After neutralization with amines, it can dissolve/disperse in water. Unlike traditional solvent-based acrylic resins (which rely on organic solvents for dissolution), it belongs to the category of environmentally friendly resins and is one of the core raw materials for waterborne coatings. It offers high gloss, with gloss levels reaching over 120, and good aluminum pigment orientation.

Performance Features
Excellent adhesion to electrophoretic substrates
Has extremely strong compatibility with electrophoretic substrates and can firmly adhere to the surface of electrophoretic coatings. The coating film has a high degree of conformity and is not prone to problems such as peeling, flaking, or poor adhesion, greatly improving the overall protective stability of the coating and meeting the coating requirements for long-term use of industrial workpieces.
Excellent recoatability and outstanding flexibility
Supports multiple recoating applications, with good interlayer adhesion. After recoating, there is no lifting, wrinkling, or delamination, providing high application tolerance. The resin film has excellent flexibility, and the coating film has strong resistance to bending and deformation. Workpieces are not prone to coating cracking or paint loss during handling and use, making it suitable for coating irregular and easily deformable hardware workpieces.
Good leveling and outstanding aluminum pigment orientation
The resin system has excellent flowability. After application, the coating surface has a good self-leveling effect, effectively avoiding coating defects such as brush marks, orange peel, and uneven thickness. When used in aluminum pigment coating formulations, it can guide aluminum pigments to arrange uniformly and orient in an orderly manner. The metallic texture of the coating surface is uniform and clear, with high gloss consistency and excellent decorative effect.
Strong filler wetting ability and high distinctness of image
Has excellent wetting and dispersion ability for various pigments and fillers, toners, pearlescent powders, and metallic powders, preventing problems such as filler agglomeration, sedimentation, floating, and color flooding. After film formation, the coating surface has high clarity, good fullness, and excellent distinctness of image. The coating surface is fine and translucent, greatly enhancing the appearance grade of the workpiece.
Usage Method
- Before use, this product should first be neutralized with DMAE, with the added amount being approximately 4-6% of the resin weight.
- This product can be ground, with the grinding temperature controlled below 50°C. It can be used in metallic coatings or solid-color coatings.
- This product can be formulated with amino resins such as Cymel 325 to make amino baking coatings.

Baking Conditions
Leveling for 5 minutes, then baking at 150°C for 20 min.
