Gabion mattress, also known as river mattress, is constructed from steel hexagonal wire mesh. These structures are filled with rocks at the construction site, with compartments of uniform dimensions formed by internal diaphragms, creating flexible, permeable, monolithic structures ideal for erosion control and river management.

Installation Process
- Step 1: Open the bundle and unfold each unit
- Step 2: Lift sides, ends, and diaphragms into vertical position
- Step 3: Attach sides of four corners together with locking wire fastener or lacing wire, and connect diaphragms to front and back of gabion

Gabion mattresses are extensively used for river bank protection, scour protection, bridge and weir protection, channel linings, erosion control, and embankment stabilization projects.
