1. Description:
Wheel Material: Wheel materials-casters are available in a variety of treads and wheel materials. Not all of them are suitable for high temperature use. Among them, polyurethane-usually has the lowest rated temperature, about 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Glass-filled nylon wheels can be used up to approximately 350 degrees (if the casters have suitable bearings and grease; see below). High temperature resistant phenolic grinding wheel 450 degrees, engineering resin wheel 480 degrees, cast iron or steel wheel 600 degrees.
Lubrication-For casters designed to work at higher temperatures, manufacturers must use grease and other lubricants rated for high temperatures. If necessary, they also add seals to prevent lubricant from flowing out of the casters.
