Weldability analysis of P92 steel
The toughness of weld is lower than that of base metal
The weld metal is a cast structure cooled down from the melting state with very high temperature. It has no chance to go through the TMCP process (thermal mechanical control process), that is, the thermal control rolling process. The grain can not be refined. Nb and other microalloyed elements are still solid in the matrix, so there is no chance to fully analyze it.
Welded joint is the weakest link affecting the operation ety of the unit
Due to the high content of alloy elements in P92 steel and great technical difficulty in welding, P92 steel is prone to low impact energy of joints and early failure of type IV cracking in long-term operation. If the welding quality is not guaranteed, the advantages of P92 will no longer exist and pose a threat to the operation ety of the unit.
