the function of a cementing plug:
The function of a cementing plug is to isolate the cement slurry from the surrounding mud. This effectively prevents any mud from infiltrating the cementing process, which can negatively affect the overall cementing quality.
Cementing plugs can be structured as either a conventional or a specialized plug. Conventional cementing plugs are typically divided into a top plug and a bottom plug. In contrast, specialized cementing plugs may include a top, middle, or bottom plug used in two-stage cementing, a drill pipe plug or a hollow plug utilized during drilling liner cementing, or a composite plug designed to be used in conjunction with composite casing.
