Top Drive System Overview
Top drive systems combine swivel and kelly drilling functions, driving the drill string from the top end. This configuration provides significant advantages over traditional kelly drilling systems, including increased drill pipe handling height for enhanced safety in complex wellbore conditions, triple drilling capacity for reduced connection time and improved efficiency, and extended reaming/backreaming capabilities for better downhole complexity management.
Pressure Switch Functionality
The faucet flushing packing system extends seal life by providing pressurized lubricant to the low-pressure side of the seal, reducing effective differential pressure. High-pressure lubricating oil pressure is predetermined based on mud proportions, typically maintained between mud pressure and atmospheric pressure to ensure each sealing ring experiences equal pressure differential.
