API 5CT Casing Float Shoe and Float Collar Overview
Our API 5CT certified casing float shoe and float collar deliver reliable performance for oil and gas well cementing operations. These essential downhole tools feature plunger-type valves that prevent cement backflow, provide casing buoyancy during run-in, and serve as internal blowout preventers.
Float Collar Functionality
The float collar is installed near the bottom of the casing string and serves as the landing point for cement plugs during primary cementing operations. Its integrated check valve allows fluid to flow downward while preventing upward flow through the casing. This design prevents drilling mud from entering the casing during lowering, enabling casing flotation to reduce load on the derrick or mast.
Float Shoe Functionality
The float shoe maintains constant fluid height inside the well casing and also contains a check valve to prevent backflow. In addition to its floatation capabilities, the float shoe serves as a guide shoe for casing installation.
