Product Overview
Safety Clamps are essential tools for handling drill collars, flush joint pipes, and small shoulder pipes in oil well drilling operations. These clamps can adjust to pipes of different sizes by changing the quantity of chain links and are designed and manufactured according to API Spec 7K standards.
Working Principle
The Safety Clamp consists of individual links flexibly hinged together. Each link features a separate tapered slip that acts as a gripping member, similar to a tapered rotary slip. Each slip is held in a retracted position on the taper by spring tension. When the clamp is tightened, each small slip takes a firm initial grip on the pipe surface. If the pipe starts to fall or load increases against the slips, the taper mounting causes each slip to wedge tighter against the pipe surface, increasing the grip and locking the pipe against further movement.
