Hydrocyclone Technology Overview
A hydrocyclone is a static separation device that utilizes centrifugal force and fluid resistance to efficiently separate heavy and light components from flowing liquid mixtures.
Separation Principle
The hydrocyclone operates on centrifugal separation principles for two-phase or multi-phase mixtures including liquid-liquid, liquid-solid, and liquid-gas systems with density differences. Mixed liquid enters tangentially under pressure, creating a high-speed rotating flow field where high-density components move outward and downward along the wall to the bottom outlet, while low-density components form an upward internal vortex and discharge through the overflow port.
