The Kelly Valve, also known as Kelly Cock or Drill Pipe Safety Valve, is a critical safety component in oil drilling operations. This manually operated ball-type valve allows free passage of drilling fluid without pressure loss while providing reliable blowout prevention capabilities.
Key Features & Applications
Available in 5,000psi, 10,000psi, and 15,000psi pressure ratings
Functions as upper Kelly valve to control blowout pressures
Serves as lower Kelly valve to prevent drilling fluid loss during Kelly disconnection
Ball-type design with spring-loaded lower seat for positive sealing
Manual operation with simple on/off stem control
