High Accuracy Endress Hauser Guided Radar Level Transmitter E+H FMP54 Guided Wave Radar Level Measurement Instrument
In crude oil separators, desalters, alkali treaters and many chemical reactors you need both total level and the interface between two liquids. The FMP54 with coaxial probe does exactly that – one single instrument gives you reliable overall level AND the interface thickness, even when the upper layer is very thin or the emulsion band changes. No need for two separate devices. Plants love it because installation is simpler and spare parts inventory is lower.
- Coaxial probe forces the microwave through both layers – no reflection loss
- Measures interface from 50 mm thickness upwards
- Works even with heavy rag layer or emulsion
- Built-in interface calculation in the transmitter
- HART or FF output for both total level and interface
| Min. upper layer thickness | 50 mm |
| Dielectric difference needed | ≥ 2 between layers |
| Accuracy interface | ±10 mm typical |
| Probe type | Coaxial only for interface |
- Crude oil production separators
- Desalters and dehydrators
- Acid-alkali treaters
- Solvent extraction columns
Q: Do I need a coaxial probe?
A: Yes – rope or rod versions can’t do reliable interface.
Q: What if the emulsion band is thick?
A: The transmitter shows the top of the emulsion as interface – exactly what operators want.
