In Zone 1 areas you can’t just put any positioner. The Logix 3200MD is built flameproof with a big cast aluminum housing and glass window. It has the same easy tuning and diagnostics as the 3800 but survives hydrogen atmospheres and salt spray. Offshore rigs and refineries replace old explosion-proof pneumatic ones with 3200MD because it’s the same price to repair but gives you digital features.
