The surface safety valves are designed with hydraulically actuated failsafe gate valves, which is able to close upon loss of control line pressure. The ssv valve is used to quickly shut in the well in the event of a leak to, overpressure or failure of any of the downstream welltest equipment as emergency equipment. The surface safety valve is conjuncted with an emergency shut down system(ESD) and normally installed upstream of the choke manifold. The SSV valve is remotely operated either manually by push button or automatically triggered by high or low pressure pilots.
