The EDI membrane block removes ions through built-in ion exchange resin (Na+ represents cations and C1- represents anions). The system consists of:
- Pure water chamber - mixed resin layer between anion and cation exchange membranes
- Concentrated water chamber - working interlayer between pure water chambers
- Electrode plates - conductive plates generating electric field during operation
- Solar photovoltaic industry: pure/ultrapure water for silicon processing
