External Installation of UCN Taps, Continued Protect taps from physical damage Taps must be protected so that they are not abused by bumping or by exposure to the elements such as water and sunlight. Internal Installation of UCN Taps Drop taps can be mounted in TDC 3000X enclosures There are various methods of installing UCN taps in a network device enclosure, such as an Advanced Process Manager cabinet or the cabinet containing a Network Interface Module (NIM). Special tap mounting brackets are available in a kit that includes the UCN taps. Preinstalled taps and drop cables The cabinets containing the network device also can be ordered with the taps and drop cables already installed.
