The nut and plate is being turned on a tie bar, to clamp formwork plates. The formwork plates make a mould to poor a concrete element.
After the concrete has hardened, the formwork plates have to be removed by losening the nut. While the nut is very firm, they use hammer blows to loosen. After 2 or 3 blows the nut is loose and can be turned of.
