Product Description:
Melamine moulding compound is an advanced thermosetting plastic material used to manufacture a variety of commercial and industrial components. It is composed mainly of melamine and formaldehyde which react through condensation polymerization. Upon heating and compression, the molecules undergo a chemical reaction and crosslink into an infusible three-dimensional network with heat resistance properties.
The production process involves dry blending melamine powder, formaldehyde, fillers and additives in precisely controlled ratios. Common fillers include wood flour and pulp to improve texture and reduce costs. Additives enhance characteristics such as flame retardancy, electrical resistance and mechanical strength. The blended powder is then compressed into mould cavities under high pressure. Application of heat completes the molecular curing process, forming a tough, rigid melamine plastic part of the desired shape.
Melamine moulding compound offers superior performance compared to ordinary plastics. It exhibits excellent heat resistance up to 150°C without discoloration or decomposition. The material possesses very high electrical resistivity, making it suitable for electrical and electronic insulators. It also demonstrates high mechanical strength, resilience and durability under stress. Chemical resistance against acids, alkalis and solvents allows use in demanding environments. Machinability of the cured parts enables fast fabrication of complex designs.
